Grouping and Classifying Rocks

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 3 Year: 2023 - 2024

We began our lesson grouping rocks in different way - for example, colour, shape or size. We then learnt specific names for natural rocks -  igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. We then relooked at our rocks and grouped them in natural rock groups, naming some of them specifically for example: granite - ignesous, sandstone - sedimentary and slate - metamorphic. We also looked and identified human made rocks.
